The Essential Details of Backgammon Strategies – Part Two

[ English ]

As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of talent and good luck. The aim is to shift your chips safely around the game board to your home board while at the same time your opponent moves their checkers toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at particular times. Here are the two final Backgammon techniques to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move her checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to completely block any activity of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get hit, or result a damaged position if he at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your half of the board. As soon as you have successfully built the prime to block the activity of your competitor, your competitor doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you move your pieces and toss the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The goals of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions hoping to better your odds of winning, but the Back Game technique utilizes alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game tactic is commonly used when you’re far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the pieces are moved is partially the result of the dice toss.
