The Essential Details of Backgammon Strategies – Part Two

As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of talent and good luck. The goal is to shift your chips carefully around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition shifts their pieces toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at specific times. Here are the last two Backgammon techniques to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to shift their checkers, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely barricade any movement of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get bumped, or end up in a damaged position if she ever attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your board. As soon as you have successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of your opponent, the competitor does not even get to toss the dice, and you shift your pieces and toss the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions with hope to improve your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game plan relies on seperate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is generally used when you’re far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more difficult than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are relocated is partly the result of the dice roll.
