The Essential Basics of Backgammon Tactics – Part One

The goal of a Backgammon match is to shift your chips around the Backgammon board and get those pieces from the game board faster than your opponent who works just as hard to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a game in Backgammon requires both strategy and good luck. How far you can move your chips is left to the numbers from tossing the dice, and just how you move your pieces are decided on by your overall gambling strategies. Enthusiasts use different tactics in the different parts of a game dependent on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Tactic

The aim of the Running Game plan is to lure all your pieces into your inner board and bear them off as quick as you could. This tactic focuses on the speed of shifting your checkers with little or no time spent to hit or barricade your opponent’s checkers. The ideal time to use this technique is when you believe you can shift your own pieces faster than your opposing player does: when 1) you have less pieces on the board; 2) all your checkers have past your opponent’s chips; or 3) the opposing player does not use the hitting or blocking plan.

The Blocking Game Tactic

The primary goal of the blocking tactic, by the title, is to block the competitor’s checkers, temporarily, not worrying about moving your chips rapidly. After you have created the blockage for your competitor’s movement with a few pieces, you can move your other pieces swiftly from the board. You will need to also have a good plan when to extract and move the chips that you used for blocking. The game gets intriguing when your opponent uses the same blocking technique.
