The Essential Details of Backgammon Strategies – Part Two

As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of ability and pure luck. The goal is to move your chips carefully around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player shifts their chips toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With competing player checkers moving in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular techniques at specific instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon strategies to round out your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the purpose of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to shift their pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely barricade any activity of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get bumped, or end up in a battered position if she ever tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your board. After you have successfully assembled the prime to prevent the movement of the opponent, your opponent does not even get to toss the dice, and you shift your chips and toss the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game plan are similar – to harm your opponent’s positions with hope to boost your odds of winning, but the Back Game tactic uses seperate techniques to do that. The Back Game tactic is often utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this plan, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the chips are moved is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
